wisdom tooth

as i was munching on some cookies, suddenly my mouth felt a bit weird. the first wisdom tooth of mine finally emerged with the entire of its chewing surface is exposed, and a piece of flesh became detached from the gum but still dangling on the gum. tried to pull it but it started bleeding... haiz... why must i grow wisdom tooth? will it squeeze the rest of the teeth so much the alignment became deformed? should i go see dentist?

It depends on whether you experience a lot of pain from it; for some people, the wisdom tooth does not squeeze the rest of the teeth while for others they do and is very painful. I cannot remember exactly who it was, but he told me that his wisdom tooth had to be broken into a couple of pieces and removed bit by bit. But he claimed that the anaesthetic numbed his senses and he did not really felt a lot of pain.

hohoho... back on tabloid forum.. haha.. xb got wisdom tooth ah.. haha.. does that mean she no longer young liao, hehe... i had mine few years back.. think all grow sui sui (nicely in place). But remembered at that time i was busy playing around with that little piece of meat (presumely the gum extra bit) with my tongue.. very irritating but fun to play as well... use ur tongue to wiggle it 360, up down, hohoho.. another entertainment activity during bored times... but i am not as brave as you as to try pull the meat bit...think it will "drop" someday.. hmm... where's mine anyway, forgot if i have swallowed them

i think the one who told u about breaking it to pieces is ivan. he had his removed earlier this sem.

mine is not painful at all, it's just v irritating that piece of flesh dangling there... but think it's not the first time bah rem when i was little and having my permanent teeth growing out that time also got sth like this. think when i go back home then have a check up bah it's so much cheaper there.

btw it's impossible that removing wisdom tooth is not painful lor. i used to have 4 of my teeth removed when i was in pri sch coz the permanent teeth growing out liao but they refused to drop. it's the injection of anaesthetic tt's most painful lor coz it's injected on the gum. had 8 injections that time for 4 teeth, almost fainted. if possible, would never do that again.

Even if it's painful, or not painful, aligned or not aligned, the dentist will suggest that you remove it... all for at the same time is also possible. There are several reasons for the removal. The obvious one is that the wisdom tooth is just too far back in the mouth and most people will have trouble reaching it when they brush their teeth. (regardless if you use REACH toothbursh or not :o) ) so for hygenie sake, it is best to remove it.

It is also possible that removing wisdom tooth is painless. I think that's provided that you go for surgery when they give you a GA. I remembered me eating solid food the moment I woke up from the surgery... no pain at all!
