half an hour ago, i plugged in my video cam for charging and with one spark, the whole room went dark. fan stopped turning. ahhhh... not this, at 3.30am in the morning!
experienced this once before when i was staying in EA. apparently the power system in these two buildings are not that stable. but at least now i know what i should do. the power box is just outside the door but it's very high up so i had to climb up a chair. was thinking it would be easy coz i know exactly which switch to pull. but what caught me there was... i can't open the damn box! it's not locked and the sides are not stuck together (i used a screw driver to poke around), but i just can't get it open!!! and my resident assistant next door is apparently soundly asleep. almost called the campus security to ask them how to open the box when this indian gal staying on the other side of the cluster came over to throw rubbish (ya the rubbish bin locates directly outside my room). she kindly offered to call her boyfriend to come up and help. after a few min, this very tall guy (i think must got 1.8m) turned up. he went up the chair, played around with the thing for a while and pushed this black plastic rectangular thingee and it's open!!! you see... this is the good point about being tall. i also saw that thing but that's the higheset point my hands can reach and i can only feel around with my fingers and got no clue at all.
at least learnt one more thing today...
